Is Andersen 500 Series replacing E-Series?
Andersen has announced 500 Series as the next step in its aluminum-clad window and door offering, with a planned 2027 launch. Hannapel views this as a transition from the existing E-Series offering toward the new collection. However, the manufacturer communications we reviewed do not give a single final-order or discontinuation date for all E-Series products.
If you already have E-Series windows or are planning an order, confirm the exact product, options and delivery schedule. A new collection announcement does not by itself settle those details.
For homeowners and builders comparing Andersen 500 Series vs. E-Series, the most useful question is how the transition affects an actual project. Can you order the configuration on your plans? Will a new window match existing units? Is a flexible 2027 timeline a reason to wait? Those decisions need more than a new series name.
What Andersen has said about the transition
Andersen’s April 7, 2026 update announced the new 500 Series aluminum-clad portfolio for 2027. The same message said Andersen would continue supporting E-Series business through 2026 and simplify additional E-Series options beginning June 1, 2026.
The important follow-up came in July: Andersen said it would continue offering the 13 most frequently ordered E-Series specialty shapes, with no change to their pricing in that update. It also said those shapes would be included in the future 500 Series collection.
That July statement concerns those specialty shapes. It should not be read as a price guarantee for every E-Series window or as a promise that all existing E-Series options will carry into 500 Series unchanged.
Andersen 500 Series vs. E-Series: what we can compare today

|---|---|---|
| Where does it fit? | Andersen’s existing aluminum-clad window and door offering. | The new aluminum-clad collection announced for 2027. |
| What about timing? | Andersen stated support through 2026; check current configuration availability. | Launch planned for 2027; exact ordering and delivery timing need confirmation. |
| Colors and design | Check currently orderable options rather than relying on an older brochure. | A more contemporary direction and focused palette, including Graphite Grey, were announced. |
| Specialty shapes | July update retained 13 frequently ordered shapes. | Andersen said those shapes would join the future collection. |
| Price comparison | Use a current quote for the exact schedule. | More accessible positioning was announced; no like-for-like price comparison was provided. |

Should you order E-Series now or wait for 500 Series?
Let the project deadline and required specifications lead. A product planned for next year can be worth evaluating, but it is not a reason to leave a time-sensitive project without a workable window schedule.
For a project that needs windows soon
Ask Hannapel to verify whether the E-Series sizes, glass, colors and hardware on your plans are currently orderable. Request a current quote and lead-time confirmation before scheduling the work around them. If an essential option is unavailable, compare an available alternative with your builder or designer.
For a flexible 2027 build or remodel
Keep the design goals moving while leaving room to review 500 Series product literature when it is available. Its announced design direction may be relevant if you want a contemporary appearance or are exploring aluminum-clad options at a different price position. Confirm the eventual release schedule before specifying it as the only acceptable product.
For an addition beside existing E-Series windows
Matching deserves a separate review. Compare visible frame and sash proportions, exterior color, grille layout, glass appearance and hardware. Ask about the dimensions and joining details as well. Shared branding or a similar color name does not establish that a new unit will match an older one.

What if your home already has E-Series windows?
The 500 Series announcement is not, by itself, a reason to replace working E-Series windows. Keep your original order information, product identification labels and warranty documents. If a unit needs attention, identify the specific problem and product before deciding whether it calls for adjustment, service, a component or replacement.
The announcements reviewed here do not establish the terms of an individual warranty claim or guarantee future parts availability. Use Andersen’s warranty information and the documentation for your product, and ask Hannapel for help identifying the right service path.
Five things to confirm before placing an order
- The complete product schedule: series, operating style, dimensions, glass, color and hardware for each opening.
- Current option availability: especially specialty shapes and details copied from an older specification.
- Matching requirements: which existing windows need to coordinate with the new units, and which visible differences are acceptable.
- Quote and delivery assumptions: what is included and when your specialist expects the order to be available.
- Installation scope: whether the project needs an insert or full-frame approach. Our window replacement installation guide explains that distinction.
Questions about E-Series and 500 Series
Has Andersen announced an E-Series discontinuation date?
The April and July communications reviewed for this article do not establish one discontinuation date for the entire line. They describe E-Series option changes, support through 2026 and a planned 2027 500 Series launch. Ask for current final-order information for your exact product.
Are E-Series specialty shapes going away?
Andersen’s July update said 13 frequently ordered specialty shapes would continue in E-Series and be included in the future 500 Series collection. Confirm your specific shape, size and options before ordering.
Will a 500 Series window fit an existing E-Series opening?
Do not assume a direct fit. Opening dimensions, frame depth, installation method, trim and surrounding construction need to be checked against the specific replacement unit.
