Rooted in Southwest Michigan since 1967

Three generations, eight showrooms, one family business.

Hannapel began as a small door company and grew into a regional source for cabinetry, countertops, windows, patio doors and exterior doors. The scale has changed, but the way we work has not: knowledgeable local teams, dependable products and long-term relationships.

Our purpose

Helping people make better decisions for their homes.

A home project comes with hundreds of choices. Our job is to make those choices clearer, coordinate the details and help customers select products that fit the space, budget and long-term plan.

Family ownership, local accountability

Three generations have guided Hannapel since 1967. Decisions are made locally by people who live and work in the communities we serve.

Products selected to perform

We work with established manufacturers, including Andersen, Therma-Tru and KraftMaid, and help customers compare the options that matter for their project.

Specialists who know the details

Our cabinetry, window, door and countertop specialists help with measurements, selections, ordering and the practical decisions that keep a project moving.

Hannapel leadership inside an earlier company showroom

Our story

From a small door shop to a regional resource

Hannapel's roots trace to the 1950s, when Howard R. Hannapel moved from Chicago to Dowagiac, Michigan. In January 1967, Howard and Jerald Hannapel incorporated H.R. Hannapel Door Co.

New locations followed throughout the 1970s and beyond. In 2016, David Hannapel became president, carrying family ownership into its third generation. Today, Hannapel operates eight showrooms across Southwest Michigan and serves homeowners, builders, remodelers and designers throughout the region.
