OUR PURPOSE

Helping families build homes they love.

We believe the best homes are built on trust — between a family and the people they choose to work with. For more than five decades, that belief has guided every showroom we open, every product we stock, and every relationship we build. Whether you are remodeling a single room or building from the ground up, our job is to make the process clearer, the choices smarter, and the result something you are proud to live with for years.

WHY HANNAPEL

What sets us apart

A Family Business, Not a Big Box

Three generations of Hannapels have run this company since 1967. The faces in our showrooms are neighbors, not call centers — and that personal accountability shows up in every project.

Products That Last

We partner with names trusted by builders for decades — Andersen Windows, Therma-Tru Doors, KraftMaid Cabinetry and more — so the products in your home perform the way they should.

Real Expertise, On Your Side

Our designers and trade specialists have spent careers in cabinetry, windows, doors and countertops. You get straight answers, real measurements, and a plan that actually fits your home.

OUR STORY

From a small door shop to a regional resource

About Hannapel Southwest Michigan

Our roots trace back to the 1950s, when Howard R. Hannapel moved from Chicago to Dowagiac, Michigan. In 1967, H.R. Hannapel Door Co. was officially founded by Howard and Jerald Hannapel — laying the foundation for what would become a multi-generation family business.

Growth came quickly. Through the 1970s and 80s, new locations opened across Southwest Michigan as Hannapel’s reach and reputation expanded. Leadership evolved with the company — Jerald Hannapel guided the business through decades of development, and in 2016 his son David Hannapel stepped forward as President, continuing the family’s commitment to service, craftsmanship and community.

Today, Hannapel operates eight locations across Dowagiac, Kalamazoo, Bridgman, Niles, Portage, St. Joseph, South Haven, and Sturgis — serving both residential and professional customers throughout the region.
