Kitchen surfaces
Consider the pattern at full scale, not just on a small sample. Veining, backsplash choices and cabinet finishes all influence the finished kitchen.

Islands & edge details
Plan seating overhangs, sink cutouts and edge profiles together. Available edges and support requirements depend on the surface, thickness and fabrication details.

Bathroom countertops
Coordinate the vanity top with the cabinet, faucet and sink. Your designer can help compare materials and discuss integrated or separate sink options.

Which countertop material fits?
Quartz offers consistent design and low maintenance. Granite and quartzite bring natural variation; laminate offers many looks at a different price point. Compare care requirements, samples and your budget before choosing.
Make the choices that matter
Choose the surface and plan the details.
Material & daily care
Compare quartz, natural stone, laminate, solid surface and cultured marble for the room you are planning. Ask about cleaning, heat protection and any sealing required for the exact product. Care needs vary by material and finish.
Pattern & coordination
Bring a cabinet door or finish sample and consider the surface beside flooring and backsplash choices. For pronounced veining or natural variation, ask how the selected slab or sheet will look across the full layout and where seams may fall.
Edges, sinks & support
Decide on the sink, faucet and cooktop before final fabrication planning. Discuss cutouts, backsplash height, edge profiles and seating overhangs together. The fabricator should confirm seam locations and support requirements for your chosen material.

Questions worth asking.
Is a small sample enough to choose a pattern?
A sample is a starting point. View larger examples and ask about slab or sheet selection, variation and seam placement before approving the final layout.
When are final measurements taken?
Ask your project team what must be installed or confirmed before templating. Rough measurements help with early planning; fabrication dimensions and cutouts must be verified before production.
Can I use any edge or overhang with any material?
Available profiles and support requirements depend on the material, thickness and layout. Confirm the exact edge, overhang and support plan with the fabricator before approving the order.
Can I keep my existing cabinets?
Often, yes. Review cabinet condition, sink changes and backsplash details with your designer before final templating and fabrication.
Can I compare products in person?
Yes. Contact our Dowagiac team to confirm the display or sample you want to see and arrange time with a specialist.
